MKVII R......

The youngest version of Volkswagen's hottest hatch, the Golf R, has been spotted on testing; and so far Golf lovers have something to listen up for. Sporting the clothes of a GTI, this quad tailpiped version of the Golf is supposedly going to use the new EA888 2.0 liter TSI, reportedly pumping out about 287 hp and 300 lbs of torque!

Our European friends will get to enjoy the car with a DSG or manual transmission, while the US version is slated to only receive one version (manual, please). Look to see this car making its way to the states in the next couple of years.....

Plug It In!

There's a new hybrid on the block, and Golf lovers will have something to smile about. The newest addition to VW's blue-badged hybrid family will be a Golf. It will be based on the same platform as the Audi E-Tron system (not a transforming robot), but will be more significant in that it will cost less!

The new 1.4 liter TSI will be mated to a 100 hp electric motor. Including the 148 from the gas engine, thats 248 hp, and 256 pounds of torque! Wait, a hybrid Golf that is more powerful than the current GTI?! (Golf lovers are smiling now). The top speed is limited to a "modest" 138 mph, and it can sprint to sixty from a standstill in around 7.6 seconds, not too shabby. In addition to this, the car can be plugged in to charge, and can be run on either gas or electric power, and a combination of the two, making it a true parallel hybrid. It can run at up to 80 mph in all electric mode, and can go for a maximum distance of about 30 miles without turning on the engine!

Since these cars won't spend very much time at the gas station, expect to see them on the road all the time!

The VII Wonders of the World!

The Mark VII Golf body has been unveiled, and everybody is smiling. Flaunting the original bold lines expected from a GTI, mixed with a touch of refinement reminiscent of Audi's A3, this release provides for an agressive and classy new version of Volkswagen's original hot hatch. The car will sit on an entirely new chassis (now designed to be flexible enough for most of VW and Audi's fleet to use) with new wheels, but will keep some of the GTI's original styling cues. The classic red line in the grill will not extend into the headlight housings, providing a more flowing front-end, and characteristic to VW's new theme. The car is expected to hit the US market for the 2014 production year, so GET READY! Call for more info!!!
