That Thing Got Bags?
Yup. Although many of us Dubbers are thinking airbag suspension, we're talking about safety airbags. Smart airbags to be exact. No, this doesn't mean your airbags will do your homework for you, lol. It means that our airbags know when to deploy, how to deploy, and at what speed depending on the type of accident you are having.
Unfortunately, most accidents today involve more than one major impact. We usually get hit on one side, then the car heads another direction and hits a guard rail, a wall, whatever. These smart airbags are designed to deploy on the side of collision, and save the other bags for other collisions. If you don't need those bags, they don't deploy, and you save a ton of money on repair costs (sometimes a car can be totaled because of the cost of airbag replacement).
Another important safety feature on our cars are the pressure sensors. The doors have sensors mounted in them to measure a spike in air pressure. If the air pressure of the door increases, it is being squeezed (collision). This automatically triggers the airbags to go off, milliseconds faster than the competitions airbags. It may not seem like much time, but a millisecond is a lifetime during an accident. Just another example of how safety is in our DNA!
